The year that is drawing to a close saw the city and its economic system hit by the most serious health emergency since the Second World War to today. With the aim of launching a message of trust and hope, Confcommercio Ascom Bologna intends to re-propose the “Lights and colors for the Asinelli Tower” initiative again in 2020 during the Christmas holidays.
The project, which will be inaugurated on Friday 27 November and will end on 10 January, provides for the Tower to be illuminated on its 4 sides and throughout its height, creating a colorful setting that will be visible from all points of the city. The lighting, made with low consumption LED lights, will include, in particular, a soft fade with pre-established colors that recall Christmas, interspersed with a dynamic intensity movement of the colored lights capable of generating a unique and suggestive optical effect, with a great scenic impact.
With this light installation, the Tower will be even more valued not only as an extraordinary tourist attraction and promotion of the city, but also as an authentic symbol of an entire community that, never as in this situation, needs to feel united, recognizing itself in a shared heritage of values and traditions.
The temporary lighting system of the Asinelli Tower was created thanks to the collaboration and sharing of the project by the Municipality of Bologna, the Superintendency and Bologna Welcome. Not being able to inaugurate the lighting with an event in attendance in full compliance with national and regional regulations on events and gatherings, a live broadcast will be held on the Facebook page of Confcommercio Ascom Bologna starting from 17.30 on 27 December.
Together with the installation of the Torre degli Asinelli, the lights in the streets of Bologna will also be lit with the traditional initiative The City of Light created by Confcommercio Ascom Bologna in collaboration with the traders of the streets involved, thanks to the contribution of the Bologna Chamber of Commerce.
In this way, the characteristic Christmas lights will shine in many streets and squares of Bologna and the metropolitan city, from the historic centers to the suburbs and hamlets. Such an engaging atmosphere will be the wish of hope addressed by Confcommercio Ascom and its associated companies to the Bolognese.
The fittings will be made with LED lights. This year’s technical choice is to gradually return to a warmer color that will create very suggestive settings with low energy consumption.
