From Friday 25 September to 15 November 2020, the Morandi Museum in Bologna hosts a new exhibition dedicated to Giorgio Morandi and his flowers.
The exhibition “Morandi tells. The secret charm of his flowers” is part of the exhibition focuses called “Re-Collection” which will investigate particular aspects, works and themes of the MAMbo and Museo Morandi collections.
The exhibition is structured in three bimonthly appointments: the first is dedicated to flowers, a subject that the Bolognese artist particularly loved. The works on display are placed over a period of time that goes from 1924 to 1957, or from the painting belonging to the museum, with the poppies just collected, to that of a private collection in which that same variety of flower is made of silk like roses , a subject that recurs in the other nine canvases on display.
The exhibition is also an opportunity to present to the public two new paintings received by the Morandi Museum on loan.
