Wednesday 8 January at 17:00, free guided tour of the exhibition “Bread and salami. Bolognese gastronomic images from the Archiginnasio collections “conducted by the curator Alessandro Molinari Pradelli.
The exhibition (until February 16) is the first of a series of documentary exhibitions set up in the library and focused on the history of Bolognese cuisine.
This first exhibition is dedicated to two fundamental and characteristic elements of Petronian gastronomy, bread and salami.
Their historical evolution will be illustrated in the eleven showcases of the exhibition through drawings, engravings, books, brochures and calls. Starting, for example, from the famous engravings of Annibale Carracci delle Arti by way, and passing through the copious artistic production of Giuseppe Maria Mitelli, we will arrive until the twentieth century, with the drawings of Alessandro Cervellati.
All the material on display, both the one shown in the original and the one that has been reproduced for conservation reasons, comes from the collections of the Archiginnasio Library.
