The works that will allow to open – after about two years of construction (including lockdown) – the Mirandola-Osteria Nuova section (Sala Bolognese) of the Ciclovia del Sole Verona-Bologna-Florence which is part of Eurovelo 7 Capo Nord-Malta .
In these weeks the rest areas are being completed (which will be equipped with lighting, wi-fi, mobile and e-bike charging, repair kits, racks, water, etc.), the signage and, in some sections, the drafting of the third layer of stabilized asphalt.
With the end of this important construction site, one of the main missing sections of the Ciclovia del Sole north of the Emilian capital will be opened: the one from the border between Emilia-Romagna and Lombardy to the gates of the city of Bologna.
In this way, the Italian part of the European Eurovelo7 cycle path will in fact be accessible from Bolzano to Bologna while some parts of the Bologna-Florence route have already been financed and partly built. At the very end of 2020, the Metropolitan City of Bologna received communication of the 4.5 million euro loan from the Ministry of Transport to design and build the Casalecchio-Marzabotto section while the Marzabotto-Silla section is already financed and designed (with 2.5 million of FSC funds within the “Pact for metropolitan Bologna”).
Also ready are logos, posters and coordinated image (produced by the Metropolitan City in collaboration with the Jack Blutharsky-Socialtrick Agency) which – in agreement with the 4 Regions involved – will be adopted for the communication and promotion of the entire Verona-Bologna-Florence route. as well as a dedicated site that will be put online on the occasion of the inauguration.
The Verona-Bologna-Florence Ciclovia del Sole project covers 392 km (of which 154 km in Emilia-Romagna and 120 km in the metropolitan city of Bologna), which are part of one of the most important European cycle paths (Eurovelo 7 from Capo Nord to Malta for a total of 7,400 km).
