On 17 and 18 October in Emilia-Romagna you can experience a weekend dedicated to Beauty, Art, Faith and Spirituality.
For the city of Bologna, a visit – with free admission – is scheduled at the convent complex of San Martino Maggiore (Via Guglielmo Oberdan, 25) on the weekend of 17 and 18 October.
A period organ from 1556, unique in the world, comes to life on Sunday afternoon (4.00 pm) at the San Martino Maggiore basilica under the virtuous hands of two important organ masters, Fabrizio Scolaro and Matteo Bonfiglioli, for a concert of baroque sacred music .
At the center of the initiative is the theme of conservation of organ-building heritage in Europe and the presentation of the sacred music project on the Romei pilgrimage routes to which the basilica is linked together with the San Martino Academy and the San Martino cultural center.
Reservation required, free offer (5 euros are suggested in favor of organ restoration).
With Open Monasteries, over 30 places of faith open their doors to the public (in many cases in a completely exceptional way) and offer a series of events, free and paid.
On the program there are trekking among the churches on the historical pilgrim routes, writing workshops and medieval codes, guided tours with art history experts, meetings with friars and cloistered nuns, concerts of ancient organs.
