The Pinacoteca di Bologna celebrates the five hundred years since Raphael’s death.
There are two exhibitions within the projects promoted by the “National Committee for the celebration of the 500 years of Raphael’s death” of Mibact, the Emilia Romagna Museum Management organizes two exhibitions dedicated to the undisputed protagonist of the Renaissance at the Pinacoteca Nazionale di Bologna of the project A dialogue between the arts in Bologna in the sign of Raphael.
The first exhibition “Raphael’s visual fortune in 16th century graphics. From Marcantonio Raimondi to Giulio Bonasone “by Elena Rossoni will be a way to get to the heart of Raffaello Sanzio’s relationship with the engraving production, through the artists who worked with him or who were among the first protagonists of the diffusion of his ideas after the his death.
The second exhibition entitled “Alfonso Lombardi: color and relief”, curated by Alessandra Giannotti and Marcello Calogero, is dedicated to the sculptor Alfonso Lombardi, an artist who, trained in the wake of the Paduan sculptural tradition, was able to update in the sense Raphaelesque style even before going to Rome in 1533. The study of the drawings and engravings taken from the master’s works and contacts with painters who had looked at the Urbino were crucial.
