The Christmas lights will be lit on Thursday 3 December on pedestrianized Via D’Azeglio.
This year the “Consortium of merchants of via D’Azeglio pedestrian”, in agreement with the Municipality of Bologna, the Lucio Dalla Foundation, the Sant’Orsola Foundation and Confcommercio Ascom Bologna, has decided to illuminate the road with “Futura”, song by Lucio Dalla included in the album “Dalla” who turned 40. In addition, the artist Pablo Echaurren accepted the invitation to intertwine one’s imagination with the words of Lucio Dalla, drawing the title of the song as well as other images that will help renew and animate the magic of “Futura”.
In compliance with the containment measures imposed by the coronavirus pandemic, there is no ceremony for the lighting of the lights.
The stanzas of “Futura” will therefore illuminate the heart of the City. A tribute to Lucio Dalla who exactly forty years ago wrote that song today more relevant than ever in describing “a world that seems to be made of glass and is falling apart like an old crib”, but with the absolute certainty that the future wait it will be better.
Strong appreciation for the initiative also comes from Giancarlo Tonelli, general manager of Confcommercio Ascom Bologna, who underlines: “Even in a difficult year like this 2020, the commitment of the traders in via d’Azeglio and their Consortium made it possible to installation of Christmas lights in one of the most important shopping streets in the city. In a situation like the present one, lighting the way, as well as reiterating the social and not just economic function of local shops, means wanting to send the city a message of trust and hope, moreover on the eve of a period, that of the holidays, which we hope it will be positive for everyone: citizens, families and businesses ”.
