Guido Reni and Guercino were among the main protagonists of European seventeenth-century painting but, in addition to each having its own distinctive style, they were two completely different personalities. From the way of leading their lives, to the system of defining the prices of their works, to the relationship with their clients, the two artists distinguished themselves not without failing to talk to each other. The Pinacoteca preserves several of their paintings, through which it will be possible to tell, also through testimonies of the time, differences and relationships

DISCOVERING THE SECRET GARDENS OF BOLOGNA FROM 17 MAY

Diverdeinverde returns from 17 to 19 May 2019, at its sixth edition of an event much appreciated by visitors and made possible by the generous participation of the owners of the gardens, who willingly make them available to enthusiasts for a weekend in May.

Now in its sixth edition, Diverdeinverde - Open Gardens of the city and the hill is confirmed as an expected and consolidated appointment of spring. Every year, around fifty private gardens of the city of Bologna are opened for the penultimate weekend of May.

Every year the program includes gardens that have never been opened before, also trying to alternate some areas of the city and discover new and different ones; this year we return to via Fondazza and open some new gardens in the Savenella, Solferino, Miramonte area, in a once popular Bologna where the prevalently vegetable spaces today have often become small gardens created by the taste of the owners.

One of the novelties of this edition is the opening of the first terrace, which offers, in addition to a beautiful arrangement of plants and flowers, a spectacular view of the city. The visit to the terrace allows you to appreciate both the set up green and, from above, the green that Bologna has been able to preserve. Do not miss, however, the gardens outside the walls, for those who have more time to devote to visits.

Visiting hours are, in general: Friday 17 May from 15 to 19; Saturday 18 and Sunday 19 May from 10 to 13 and from 15 to 19, but it is necessary to refer to the program for details.

Access to the gardens requires the purchase of a nominal 10 euro card in advance until Thursday 16 May, and at the full price of 12 Euro from Friday 17 May until the end of the event; children under 13 are free.

BOLOGNA MEETS THE JAPANESE CULTURE WITH THE NIPPOP FESTIVAL

Japan continues to be discovered in Bologna through the NipPop festival, now in its ninth edition.

Japan to taste is the title of this year's event, dedicated to food and the rediscovery of flavors.

From Friday 17 to Sunday 19 May, the interior spaces and courtyards of the Santo Stefano district and the Teatro del Baraccano will come alive with the festival that explores the various aspects of contemporary Japanese culture.

Among the many protagonists of Japanese culture, a series of international guests beloved by the Italian public, including the writer Ogawa Ito, author of the award-winning novel “The restaurant of love rediscovered. And again Hirohiko Shoda - known as Chef Hiro. Space also for manga and illustration, with the participation of mangaka Est Em and Yoshiko Noda. There are also numerous Italian guests, including the writer Stefania Viti.

There will also be appointments for the little ones: the Baraccano Kids space - Il Baraccano dei piccoli offers a program dedicated to children and their families on 18-19 May, to approach them - having fun and experimenting - with the universe of Japanese culture.

ZOOMARK, ALL THE NEWS FROM THE ANIMAL WORLD TO BOLOGNA FIERE

ZOOMARK INTERNATIONAL is the international exhibition of products and equipment for pet animals started on Monday 6th until May 9th.

The exhibitors of this 18th edition are 757 from 45 countries, 6 are the national collective, to highlight the growing internationalization of the event. News, born from the collaboration with the different associations and the coordinators of the foreign collective, the organization of Focus on the markets and business opportunities for the USA, Canada, Russia, the UK, China, India and the Czech Republic.

A special Zoomark initiative is Aqua Project which, after the success of the first edition of 2017, returns with a project designed to give even more importance to the aquarium industry and directly involve the companies in the sector. The goal is to get out of the box and show the great versatility of the aquarium, equipped with the most modern technologies, to create unusual and surprising versions in their simplicity. A large central area will welcome exceptionally large tanks, a small lake and aquariums set up by the exhibitors to recreate different habitats and ecosystems, showcasing the latest technological innovations.

This year there is a lot of room for "new things".
As with the past editions, ZOOMARK INTERNATIONAL will give great emphasis to the "new" products of the exhibiting companies: more than 400 will be exhibited in a new location in the Mall connecting the new pavilions (28, 29 and 30), which will further enhance a very broad proposal. About 40% concerns food, a sector in which innovation is a fundamental factor.

New formulas increasingly tailored to the animal's nutritional needs, increasingly selected ingredients according to the organoleptic characteristics, quality and possible specific needs of the animal (for example formulas without allergens, grain free, functional or with particular nutritional purposes that assist in the treatment of certain diseases). About 40% of the new products presented are dedicated to dogs, to follow the products for cats and in third place those for fish and ponds, a sector stimulated by the Aqua Project initiative, some of these products will be presented in operation right in the Aqua area Project. Design becomes more and more sophisticated, shapes and materials are sought after and of ever-increasing quality. The technology applied to product development is at the service of the animal and its owner to offer maximum comfort, for example with kennels built with highly insulating and comfortable materials, orthopedic beds and pillows and in memoryfoam, moments of leisure (interactive games ), protection and safety with collars equipped with GPS and / or electronic recognition tags, high visibility systems
dark.

In animal care - hygiene, medical surgical aids - delicate formulas, homeopathic and ayurvedic approaches are preferred and the first CBD-based products appear. In the field of bedding new plant-based solutions are emerging, coming from new sources and totally respectful of the environment. In general, we notice an increasing sensitivity towards biological products and raw materials, sustainable production cycles, recyclable packaging.

THE CTA OBSERVATORY IN 2020 WILL HAVE BOLOGNA AS ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICE

Meanwhile, from 6 to 9 May, the capital of Bologna will host, at the Duse theater, the first scientific symposium organized by the CTA, which includes an evening (Monday 6 May) open to the public with two special guests: the Nobel Prize winners for physics Takaaki Kajita and Rainer Weiss, and the president of the region will also attend.

Another international project will soon find its home in Emilia-Romagna, which increasingly applies to be the nerve center of research.

The future direction and administrative headquarters of the CTA (Cherenkov Telescope Array), the largest and most sensitive gamma ray observatory in the world, with a network of 118 telescopes to study the violent Universe, will be established by the end of 2020 in Bologna under form of a European Research Infrastructure Consortium (ERIC). A project of great scientific value, to which over 1,400 scientists and engineers from 31 countries of the world are working.

From May 6 to 9, in Bologna, the first scientific symposium organized by the CTA will be held at the Duse theater, an event destined primarily for the international scientific community, which will meet here with a specific objective: to share knowledge on the latest generations of instruments capable of revealing the secrets of the Universe and arouse synergies in the new astronomy called "multi-messenger". Astronomy, that is, based on the observation and coordinated interpretation of different types of "messenger" signals, such as electromagnetic radiation, gravitational waves, neutrinos and cosmic rays, which, being generated by different astrophysical processes, can reveal complementary information on the complex astronomical structures that generate the signals.

On this occasion, a large free event open to citizenship will also take place. Werner Hofmann, co-creator of the CTA project, and the winners of the Nobel Prize in physics, Takaaki Kajita in 2015 and Rainer Weiss in 2017, will make the public travel in the Universe during a year entitled "Can you hear me?" 20.

A story of the evolution of our way of looking at the Universe, starting from Galileo, from whose first observation exactly 410 years have passed, up to the most recent study methodologies and the new technologies and discoveries that push our horizon of more and more knowledge.
To accompany the public on this journey, infinitely fascinating and moderated by Stefano Sandrelli, also the voices of the Social State and Kepler-452, which will join the sounds of the "cosmic messengers".

TO START THE FACTORY OF THE FUTURE AT THE INDUSTRIAL HERITAGE MUSEUM

A new space dedicated to The factory of the future is active at the Industrial Heritage Museum in Via della Beverara 123.

The space that has the characteristics of an interactive and multimedia laboratory documents the lines of development that are changing the environment and the productive and organizational structure of the companies in our area.

It is a place of interconnection that connects the physical level of things and the digital level of information. The aim of the new space is to reflect on all processes and at the same time offer simulations and contents to attract new generations and make them aware of the value and potential of the Bologna industrial sector.

The space can be visited independently during the Museum's opening hours except for the stations dedicated to Virtual Reality and Robotics which, due to their complexity, require the guidance of a specialized operator who will be available on Sunday 31 March, 7 and 14 April at 11 : 00 by reservation.
