From 12th May to 10th June 2022 Marktstudio inaugurates a new exhibition project within the circuit of ART CITY Bologna, inviting the artist Letizia Calori (Bologna, 1986) in the spaces of Il Perimetro dell’Arte.
Marktstudio is a project conceived by the artist Giuseppe De Mattia, developed under the artistic direction of Enrico Camprini and Chiara Spaggiari in collaboration with Angelica Bertoli and Alessia Sebastiani. It was created in the premises of Il Perimetro dell’Arte, a workshop and frame shop in Via Don Giovanni Minzoni 7/A, with the aim – through the presentation of works by artists of different generations and trends – of investigating the short-circuits within the traditional conceptions of exhibition space and sales, in relation to the dimension of craftsmanship and “workshop”, proposing exhibition formats that favour reflection on the work itself and its relationship with the place that hosts it.
Hard Work is the title of the exhibition project presented by Letizia Calori, in perfect continuity with her latest research and reflections on the materiality of the everyday object in physical and social space, and on the contradictions generated by its remodulation and display.
In particular, the new works presented by Letizia Calori, silicone rubber casts of common objects for manual work, take on a surreal character, losing their functionality. The role, value and meaning acquired by the objects within a broader collective, social and conventional context, which can be described in terms of material culture, are thus highlighted.
At the same time, “P.”, a wax cast of a work shirt used first by the artist’s father and then by the artist herself, will dialogue with these works. In the display proposed by Marktstudio, it is coherently placed within the line of investigation on the social and cultural value of work objects, starting from its historical-biographical significance.
The event is free of charge.
